The Journey

Last night my friend Justin and I went to Barnes & Noble. We usually go there to hang out, read, and just talk. Justin is an EXCELLENT poet and while we sat at B & N last night he wrote a poem about art. I was spellbound by his choice of words and the message that was presented through the poem. I asked him if he would do me the honor of allowing me to post it to The Journey, and he said yes. So, here you go. Enjoy!

The Artist

I am an artist… creativity borne.
My hand a tool, my pen a great sword,
carving out the picture already on the paper,
returning to dead trees some semblance of nature.

I am an artist… a storyteller of sights.
Words are superfluous, your portal is my eyes,
upside down on the cornea of my introspection,
distilled and simmered into artistic perfection.

I did this one last night while I was at Barnes & Noble. It is pretty intense…hmm I am realizing that I love intense and emotional images. This one kind of “flowed out” — the shapes, angles, face placements, everything. (It looks even better in my sketchbook!)
