Pencil AND Pen & Ink and Watercolor
Yep, you read correctly. My first edition (debuting in July) will consist of Pencil, Pen & Ink, AND Watercolor artwork pieces. From my previous post you will remember that I met with the owner of the Art Gallery that I will be working with (Kwame). We met for about four hours and man did I learn a lot. In a nutshell Kwame informed me that my pieces, as a whole, should tell a story. They should lead the viewers on… a Journey
So, what better title for my Art debutĀ show than “The Journey”. Kwame said that I need to have artwork of varying sizes, produced in different mediums (i.e. various types of art - pencil, pen & ink, etc.). At a minimum, he said that I would need to have 25 pieces done for the show. 25! I realized that I had a LOT of work to do.
He gave me some pointers on how to expand the body of my work and how to express myself. It was like sitting in a classroom learning more than I could have imagined. I loved it! I was amazed by how much talking about art with Kwame actually inspired me to want to draw even more. (We are scheduled to meet once a week and have “Art dialog”.)
Over the past few weeks I have continued working on pieces, and though it seems extremely slow at times, I am sincerely happy with the outcomes so far. This morning I began working on two pieces that fall under the category of “Growth”, and they are truly outstanding. I am learning more and more how to let what is within me show in my pieces. It is invigorating to see dreams and ideas come to life on paper.
Well that is all for now. Please keep me in your prayers.
