Fluidity + Pattern

Published by TWOGIL... at 11:01 am under

I love the art of Chuck Close. Recently I began a painting technique similar to the one displayed in the above pictures. He developed a technique where an entire image is made up of tiny equally sized portions, that are filled with various colors and shapes. The effect is amazing. When an individual steps back, the total image is seen. But, when they move closer, only organic shapes and colors can be seen. It is similar to the concept of orderly chaos. What seems to be chaotic is actually methodical and well planned. I love process and technique, while displaying a fluid idea.

Very interesting, I would love to see the painting you made from this technique. Its been a long time since you put anything up- how’s the journey going?

Hey girl :). (The painting does look nice.) It has been awhile since the last time I made a post to the blog. In a nut-shell, I am leaving for Korea in 16 days. I will be teaching Bible and English for a year and then studying Korean at a University for a year and a half. While there, I will also explore their art culture. [I will email you with more details. ttyl]
